Ministry Teams Make a Difference

Each week there are teams of church family members serving together, making a difference in the lives of each other, the lives of the church body, and the lives of our community. Nursery workers, greeters, missions, worship band, prayer team…on and on there are groups of members serving is so many ways. Our time can be our most valuable resource, and using that treasure for His Glory is a wondrous thing.

Look through the opportunities, and contact the church office for more information on any of the ministry opportunities below. You can also do the same to get in touch with our Elders or Deacons as well.

Pastor’s prayer team

Each Sunday we have a team of men praying for our Pastor as he brings God’s Word to the church family. Gathering at the beginning of service, they spend the entire time in prayer with each other, also receiving any specific prayer requests given during service to bring those to the Lord as well.

Missions

At First Baptist Church Columbia, our desire is to obey Jesus and make disciples from Columbia, Illinois to the ends of the earth. Some of our members serve weekly in Columbia or the St. Louis metro area, and others are serving full time overseas. All FBCC missions efforts are focused on making disciples who make disciples who worship Jesus Christ!

Worship Ministry

Our worship ministry leads us every Sunday morning by creating an environment that will connect your heart to God and to others. If you love to worship Jesus through playing instruments, singing, or pushing buttons and turning knobs with tech, the worship ministry is the place for you to serve.

Hiz Kidz & Nursery

Hiz Kidz is designed to teach kids about Jesus on their level in a safe, fun environment. Each week babies–5th grade kids are taught the Bible in a creative, age-appropriate way while building relationships with adult volunteers and peers. There are several different ways for you to serve with our Hiz Kidz ministry from helping with the littles in Nursery, to helping with classes!

Small Group Leadership

Small groups of believers are how big movements are made. Our Small Groups are not just a traditional Sunday School Bible study, they are families of fellow believers within our larger church family and their leadership is an instrumental part of FBCC’s growth and health. If you are interested in leading a small group study, let us know!

Heart for God Students exists to reach 6–12th grade students far from God and teach them how to follow Jesus step by step. If you love Jesus, middle and high school students, and crazy services, HFG is a great place for you to serve. HFG happens every Wednesday and Sunday night from and has a variety of different volunteer roles.

Security Team

We can not stress enough that when you are here, you are home. We want you to feel as safe in FBCC as you do in your own home and we take you and your family’s security seriously. To that end we have a dedicated team of personnel working to maintain that safety.

Quilting Ministry

There is a devoted group of ladies who meet weekly at FBCC, bringing their time and talent and turn out more quilts than some could imagine to donate and give to those in need. If this speaks to your heart and you would like to be a part of this wonderful ministry, let the office know and we can help!

Greeting Ministry

Have you ever had a door held for you while greeted with a smile, handshake, and a heartfelt “good morning!”? You will at FBCC because that’s simply part of our greeters and welcome ministry! Everyone is welcome in our church home and we want you to feel that way from the moment you walk through our doors, so we do indeed have a special group of people who make it their mission to help everyone feel welcome!

Womens Ministry

If you were to ask any of the ladies what the core was to their mission, they may all give you a slightly different answer but it would all point to the same thing; to connect and love others through a ministry that provides opportunities for relationally rich experiences where women can grow in their devotion to Jesus Christ.

Church Elders

The role of Elder is not a position to be taken lightly, as the elders should be peacemakers, prayer warriors, teachers, and leaders by example. Elders of the church protect from false teachers, shepherd, train and raise up new leaders, and care for the church family. If you would like, or need to contact one of our Elders, please contact the office!

If you have a question for them, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Building Grounds

Our Grounds team is made up of both staff and volunteers who care for the physical nature of our church home. While FBCC is so much more than a building, the walls and ground they stand on still need to be taken care of! If you’d like to help, let us know.

ushers

Our Ushers seem to never stop moving at FBCC! You’ll see them greeting folks as they see them enter, answering questions, helping someone find a seat, or perhaps helping someone who needs assistance in another way they can help with. If you see a friendly face with our outstretched hand, that gentleman might just be an FBCC Usher!
