Children's & Family Ministries

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."  Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

Note from Jenny -
At FBC we work hard on providing a comprehensive ministry to children and families. It is our desire to be an extension of the family and to partner with them in teaching the children from the Word of God. In the children's ministry it is our desire to see children develop friendships with other children and most importantly, to see each child grow into a loving relationship with the Lord.

I'm excited to be serving here. I want to partner with parents to help their child grow into a loving relationship with Christ. I am always available to answer questions that you may have or your child may have.

Director of Preschool and Childrens Ministries

Activities

Sunday School: 9:30 am every Sunday Morning
Sunday School classes are organized by age groups.  Children are grouped with those of the same age so that the lessons are age appropriate.

Children's Worship: 10:45 service
This is a time for children age four through 3rd grade to learn how to worship.  Four- and five-year olds go to room 102; 1st - 3rd graders meet in room 112.  During Children's Worship, kids enjoy a message, songs, prayer, and an offering.  It is our desire to help children learn how to worship and apply Bible teaching to their everyday lives.

Extended Session: 8:00 am and 10:45 am
Extended session is preschool care offered during our worship services for children birth through three years old.  Your child's needs are taken care of in a safe, secure and loving environment so you can enjoy worship service.

Rockin' for Jesus Children's Choir: 5:30-6:30 Sunday evenings
This choir is for children four years old through 6th grade.  It is designed for children to worship Christ through songs and develop their musical skills.  The choir sings periodically for special occasions and in worship services.

AWANA: 6:00-7:30 on Wednesday Evenings
AWANA is an evangelistic club for kids with the purpose of reaching children with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.  The club is for children who turned 3 by September 1st, through 6th grade.  In club time children enjoy an opening together, large group teaching time, small group (book time), and recreation (game time).

Other Ministries to Families

Mothers of Preschoolers (M.O.P.S.)
MOPS is a Christ-centered caring ministry for mothers of infants through kindergarten age as well as soon-to-be mothers.  MOPPETS is the children's counterpart program.  They meet while the mothers are meeting. For MOPPETS we have childcare workers who will love and encourage your children.  Through carefully planned activities, the children grow spiritually, socially, and creatively.

We have a morning group and an evening group.  MOPS meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month (September through May).  The morning group meets  from 9:00am - 11:15am.  Our evening group meets at 6:00 pm.

Policies in our Preschool Ministry

Security

Sign-in and out
For each classroom there is a sign in/ out sheet. Parents are required to sign in each child on the appropriate sheet. Parents are also required to fill out a sticker with child's name and other information.  Each sticker has a number at the top with a corresponding number sticker that you will retain. In order to retrieve your child you will need the corresponding sticker.

Pagers

In order to have contact with parents anywhere in the building we use a pager system.  Parents are given a pager which vibrates to let the parent know that are needed in the nursery area.

Background checks

All workers in the preschool and children's ministries undergo annual nationwide criminal background checks.

Wellness - If your child has any of the following symptoms we ask that you do not bring them to the nursery area.

  • A green or yellow discharge from the nose or eye
  • A congestive or croup cough
  • A fever of 100 or more in the past 24 hours
  • A bacterial infection and has been on antibiotics less than 24 hours

If your child develops any of these symptoms while in our care, we will notify you immediately to come and get your child.
